We offer the following services:

Tutoring

Hourly based tutoring for Grades 1 through 12 High School will be offered to supplement students enrolled in either the conventional or home school system, and who require additional assistance. The tutoring is booked in advance and will be available after regular school hours from 3pm to 7pm or during the day for those currently being home schooled.

Homework Club

This is a programme to supplement the student currently enrolled in either home schooling or another  school, and provide assistance with school homework. This is done in a small group setting. The programme runs Monday to Friday from 1:00 to 6:00 pm, where the student attends any public or private secondary school, either full or part time, and joins us after school, in a small group setting.

Flex School Part Time

The Flex School Junior Programme is a partnership solution with the secondary schools to work with the students to build their skills while simultaneously earning compulsory high school credits with us. As with the Flex School Programme, we design this to accommodate the student’s pace of learning.  The goal is to bring them up to grade level in a quiet, non-threatening environment.

The programme runs Monday to Friday from 1pm to 6:00 pm, where part of the day is spent earning credits in a public or private secondary school, and the balance of the school day with us in small group ratios.

The students in this programme, preparing for post secondary education, also have the option to incorporate job placement or apprenticeship time into this schedule, similar to the Flex School Programme, as detailed below.

Flex School Programme

For those students who have left school or are struggling with the conventional educational system, we recognize that the routine of daily attendance for 6-8 hours might be too intense or intimidating. With this in mind, we have Flex School, where we combine multiple resources to provide a stimulating and exciting learning environment. The programme runs Monday to Friday  in pre-arranged 3 to 4-hour blocks per day. The student will be expected to supplement their time in school with any of the following options, subject to approval.

Doing schoolwork or reading in the library, The Door or Literacy Centre
• Doing volunteer work for a local community service
• Mentoring younger students either at Above and Beyond, or school placement
• Earning money at a part time job
• Vocational placement with community support
• Enjoying recreation at the Door
• Sports activity or special event promoting learning

These programmes will be tailored to each youth individually to provide the greatest learning opportunity with the least resistance. The environment will be bright, supportive, warm and friendly in a relaxed atmosphere with the comforts of a home environment.
